Rabbit to Rusty to Restore

What's hot on the strasse Dubberz!  Picked this sad little guy up out of a junk yard a couple of miles away from my house a couple of weeks ago.  I only paid 400 bucks for it and I figured it was worth that much just to see if it was worth restoring.  Love these things!  Especially for the Eurowise conversions.  So what do the "experts" think?  Should I have left this one where it was to rest in peace?  Or should I chase this little white Rabbit down the rabbit hole and see where it takes me?

Looks like a lot of sanding for the surface rust BUT.. A project isn't a project without a little elbow grease! It has potential. They all do.

she's rough.... but for $400 i probably would have picked it up too.

To be honest, I initially thought about a ratty runner but the more I think about it I kind of want to do a restore.  I don't necessarily think its too far gone.  I took off the front fenders this weekend and the inner wings are solid.  The really rusty bits are the right side floor plan and the trunk right around the spare tire area.  I was looking at switching over to a Euro Golf front end anyways so that covers the fenders and the valence/radiator support/whatever you want to call it.  Beyond that I think the right side doors might need some work right on the bottom where the seal retained moisture.  OTHER THAN THAT, lol...its not THAT bad.  A F*** ton of surface rust though.  The only really sketchy area is that boot floor...
