Figured I should start one.
Picked this up the day before Thanksgiving, of course in typical Miah fashion it was brought to my attention at work Via CL, totally unmolested single owner grandma car, it literally said grandma car in the CL add. There are records in the dash of everything that's been done to it over the course of it's life time. Pretty crazy.
Got there to check it out and they had to dig it out of a barn, hadn't been started in over two and a half years. Almost pristine condition aside from a little dent on the edge of the left quarter and a few minor dents on the roof. And of course the normal wear and tear of 170k on the clock, not to shabby for a single owner Diesel, it took some coaxing and finally a pull start but she did start. Wasn't to long after we blasted back to spearfish with it.
It's taken a few things here and there to get her running smooth, first thing it needed was a battery. After it warmed up we figured out she wouldn't start w/o being plugged in even in 50 degree temps, so it got a set of glow plugs. Problem fixed, tomorrow hopefully it'll get an oil pan gasket so I don't leave a quart of oil on the ground every time it's warmed up and parked, oh and a wheel bearing so I can start driving it again lol.
Other then some routine maintenance stuffs, the only things it's had done so far was a shift nob (oh yeah) and we removed the bumpers, looks about 37 times better with out the hideous bumpers.
Goal for the year is coilovers, wheels, and a dip. I have the wife looking for some fabric, I think we are going to try and to the headliner in something fun that will match the color of the dip which is going to be teal, and when ever I can nail down the wheels I want they'll be white.
Eventually I'd like to pull some more power out of it, stock and new this car is 52hp. It's a screamer let me tell you lol, but the flip side is right now I've been avg'ing between 38 and 48 mpg, I literally have zero knowledge of diesels, but from what I understand as soon as I go back to #2 fuel it should increase significantly.
Also if I can track down a wrecked Cabrio to steal the front end off of, I want to do the euro conversion on it, I hate the square headlights.
